My plan was to cut a good roof off an old truck below the seam. On the truck i thought i could cut the roof off above the seam and grind off the spot welds. Make a filler panel for below the window. Once that s done i was thinking you could turn it over and grind off the spot welds and remove the scap sheet metal to make a nice clean seam that ll match up well with the original cab.

I would not trust the door latching it was a extended cab. Another option would be to have a full roll cage installed but this would require a lot of welding and pipe bending. This will give you a roof with the bracing ribs stamped in and will be much easier to weld on.
